Diocesan Synod Meeting - 12th June 2011, held at the Horstead Centre

The Synod meeting was preceded by the AGM of the Diocesan Board of Finance - of which all diocesan synod members are a part.  Essentially this was to receive the report on 2010, and agree the re-appointment of the auditors.

The first part of the Synod meeting was devoted to the contents of the 2010 Reports from Boards & Committees - especially the DBF -  and the proposals for budget  2012

The total income from Parish Share in 2010 was £6.355,000 - 81% of the ask. Despite an increase in income from the Archbishop’s Council & Investments, the net deficit for the year was £464,000. There will only be a tiny increase in the Share asked for 2012; the hope is still that PCCs will make every effort to pay in full in this year of zero increase,  in order to maintain the Mission & Ministry of Norwich Diocese.

A hour long coffee break gave members a chance to sample something of the Youth & Families Work undertaken throughout the diocese and at Horstead itself,  after which there were presentations and group dicussions in the body of the meeting. (Across the See for August/September has an excellent illustrated article)

An update on the timescale for considering The Anglican Covenant completed the business.  This will be the subject of our first  deanery meeting in 2012.
